This morning I woke up and we didn't have any electricity. The electrical company had warned us that our block would be off line from 8 am to 5 pm ... so that meant no internet, no PC ... so I decided to tackle a layout that I had been thinking about making for 2 days now!
It's actually a 2 in 1 layout ... as over on the
Memories Trend forum, this month, we are challenged to use stitching! Secondly, on the
UKScrappers forum, this weekend, starting tomorrow we are having an on-line crop, and as a Pre-Crop challenge we had to do a layout with 'home' theme.
So I came up with this:
As you can see, it's all about what HOME means to me, and it's all about the people in my life. I just love this photo taken last year during Christmas of Myself, Mom and my two nieces Katerina and Sofia.
The paper I've used is from a paper pad that I picked up locally, called Tiffany from WeRMemory Makers. Just love the bright colours ...
I've stitched the title which is from the July Unity stamps kit:
... adding stickles to the heart in 'home' and a small brad for the word heart!
I've stitched the roof, and the sides of the house using Bazzil thread, and their Granny stitches templates.
For the tree, I've painted a chipboard branch that was part of a Sarah's Cards kit ... with Adirondack paints and have used BG Mellow, cut in a Nestibility and inked for an added green touch! The flowers are small primas, brads and have drawn the stem and leaves.
As for the door, it's something again that I picked up locally, and thought that I would use. It's from an Italian company called Stamperia, and I don't think they had scrapbooking in mind! It opens up, so I've included details of the layout under it ... again painted with Adirondack inks.

It looks better live, as there are quite a few 3D elements to it, the photo is under the striped paper, and it's like a window opening ...
I hope to be able to take part this weekend in the crop. We've got guests here, and I have errands that need to be done over the weekend, so I'll have to try my best!!
